Are you a budding artist who needs an opportunity to freely express yourself? Have you enjoyed playing with clay, forming shapes, but sense the help of an expert would add the "wow factor" to your pieces? Would you like to create a mould of your favourite sculpture and have fun doing just that? You are welcome at Ian Edwards Studios!
Ian's reputation has grown as a sculptor, and so has the demand for him to teach those who wish to build their skills and knowledge within the world of sculpture. Ian's passion for teaching, encouragement and sharing his knowledge is reflected by the positive state of artistic belief each student has developed at the end of the courses.
Ian Edwards Studios offer a wide range of courses such as, Mould Making, Clay Sculpting, Wood Carving and Bronze Resin Casting. All within Ian's fully equipped working studio. Our classes are kept to a maximum of six students, each student can then receive individual attention, which is vital when learning practical skills.
All abilities are welcome, including beginners.
Mentoring
Ian Edwards provides bespoke mentor programs for individuals that are looking to fast track and hone their skills in:
- Planning a project

- Marketing your finished product
Ian is also there to provide assistance and support for anyone undertaking their first commissioned work. With Ian's guidance you will be able to develop a clear vision of your objectives, empowering you with the confidence and technical abilities to be able to produce I high standard of work.
Ian appreciates that each student has individual needs and requirements and therefore each program is is tailored to allow your needs to be met. You will have the opportunity to work side by side with Ian an established Woodcarver, Sculptor and tutor, providing you with inspiration and confidence in your creative abilities whilst gaining an insight in how a professional works.
Each Program is delivered by occasional visits to Ian's fully equip working studio, backed up with telephone and email support.
Courses with Ian at The Edward James Foundation, West Dean, Sussex.
Ian runs regular residential courses at West Dean College. West Dean College is at the heart of the 6,400 acre West Dean Estate in the slopes of the South Downs. Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it offers a sensational setting for you to spend a day or a week.
Formerly the home of Edward James, patron of many surrealist artists including Dali and Magritte, the 19th-century flint-faced mansion has, for over 35 years, been home to West Dean College – a Centrex to study traditional and contemporary arts, crafts, writing, gardening and music.
Capturing the movement of animals in clay - 20 March 2011 - 24 March 2011
Learn to capture the dynamics of a moving animal using 'chevant', a modelling material similar in properties to plasticine. Processes covered include armature building, animal anatomy, modelling tools, equipment and finishing techniques. Bring photographic reference to work on either a head or whole figure.

Courses with Ian at Axminster Skills Centre, Axminster, Devon.

Ian runs regular classes at Axminster Skills Centre. The Axminster Skill centre has been established to offer customers the opportunity to develop their skills within the diverse range of woodworking and associated crafts.
Since its inauguration it has gained in popularity, not only with regular customers but also as a learning centre for both amateur and professional craftspeople in the UK and abroad.
Originally started by the late John Legg, a talented and dedicated wood turner, it continues with his aim to introduce and encourage beginners and has increasingly developed those aims towards other crafts and technical skills such as woodcarving routing and in the use of specific tools and machinery.
